About the Opportunity

The Global Young Academy (GYA) is seeking applications from exceptional early-to-middle career independent scholars and researchers who combine high-level academic excellence with a demonstrated passion for delivering societal impact.

As a GYA member, you will join an international network of leading young scientists and scholars across all disciplines to foster international, interdisciplinary, and intergenerational dialogue, engage in science policy, and promote science to society.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Active Engagement: Commit a minimum of 6 hours per month to GYA projects, committees, and working groups (including science-for-policy and public engagement initiatives).

  • Annual General Meetings (AGM): Attend the annual physical meeting. Selected members must be available to attend the upcoming GYA AGM scheduled for June 21–25, 2027, in Indonesia.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in cross-cultural and international research collaborations, policy debates, and science outreach.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Background: Must hold a PhD or an equivalent degree (e.g., DBA, EdD, PsyD, DA, DNP) or have successfully defended your PhD thesis at the time of application.

  • Discipline & Sector: Open to scholars in all research-based disciplines (natural sciences, social sciences, physical sciences, arts, and humanities), working in academia, government, industry, or non-governmental sectors.

  • Career Stage & Age:

    • Candidates should be in the early-to-middle years of their independent careers.

    • Born in or after 1986: Eligible without restriction (holding a PhD).

    • Born before 1986: Must have obtained a PhD in 2019 or later (exceptions considered with detailed justification for career interruptions).

  • Research & Impact: Demonstrated excellence in your discipline combined with a clear track record or commitment to societal engagement.
