About the Opportunity

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially opened its nationwide recruitment exercise for 2026. Qualified Nigerian citizens are invited to apply for permanent career appointments across professional, executive, and administrative cadres.

This recruitment drive aims to strengthen the Commission's capacity ahead of upcoming electoral activities, providing structured public service career paths across legal, ICT, engineering, financial, medical, and administrative disciplines.

Available Positions & Cadres

  1. Professional Cadre (Grade Level 09 – 10)

    • Legal Officers / Lawyers (Requirements: BL / LLB, NBA enrollment)

    • IT / Software / Cybersecurity Officers (Requirements: B.Sc/B.Eng in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, CPN/relevant certification)

    • Engineers (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical – COREN registered or eligible)

    • Accountants & Finance Officers (B.Sc/HND in Accounting/Finance, ICAN/ANAN certification)

    • Clinical / Medical Officers (MBBS, Nursing, Public Health – MDCN/NMCN registered)

  2. Executive & Administrative Cadre (Grade Level 08)

    • Electoral Officers / Administrative Officers

    • Public Affairs / Communications Officers

    • Logistics & Procurement Officers (Requirements: B.Sc or HND in Social Sciences, Humanities, Management, or Sciences with NYSC Certificate)

  3. Assistant / Operational Cadre (Grade Level 06 – 07)

    • Executive Assistants (Admin/Accounts)

    • Data Processing & System Assistants (Requirements: OND, NCE, or equivalent qualification in relevant fields)

General Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for any of the advertised positions, applicants must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Nationality: Must be a citizen of Nigeria by birth.

  • Age Limit: Must not be older than 35 years of age at the time of application.

  • Education: Possession of relevant academic qualifications (B.Sc, HND, OND, NCE) from recognized tertiary institutions.

  • National Service: Valid NYSC Discharge Certificate, Exemption Letter, or Exclusion Certificate (mandatory for degree/HND holders).

  • Identification: Valid State of Origin / Local Government Identification Certificate.

  • Medical Fitness: Must be certified medically and physically fit for public service.

  • Clean Record: Must have no history of criminal conviction or involvement in financial impropriety.

  • Non-Partisanship: Must not be a registered member of any political party or actively involved in partisan politics.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to work in any State of the Federation, including local government area offices.
